The Wheels Go Round and Round (2021)
Moving Image, 1 minute 6 seconds
"The Wheels Go Round and Round" is a piece that engages with the biological makeup of the body. The work denotes a reflection on human adaptation and cognitive senses through the notion of communication, movement, and survival. The imagery is paralleled by a mesmerizing soundtrack of mutated abstract sounds and noises in the beginning, depicting the proximity and closeness of microorganisms as they move and communicate just like humans.
As the viewer embarks on a journey of transformation, a poetic expression of the phrase ‘humans move to survive’ is made through the comparison of moving cells and the way humans navigate using transportation – in search of function in life and new potential ways of finding identity. The microscopic imagery of moving cells is mixed with various footage to create a universe along with a distorted tune of the song “The Wheels on the Bus,” referring to human adaptation as a continuation cycle.
